1. How can I join the list? 2. Which Tolkien forums do have their own attendees list? 3. What information is registered? 4. What about the security of my personal data? 5. What about the gallery? 6. Technical guidelines for personal pics 7. Subscribing to the newsletter 8. Abbreviations on the RingCon-Team page 9. Login problems 1. How can I join the list? If you're already on the list in one of the boards listed below, we don't need your nickname and principal forum anymore. We compare the lists every now and then. However, we only use the informations you gave, we don't take anything out of your user profile. That means, we only publish what you want people to know. But we strongly recommend to provide your e-mail address as this is the main goal of this list. If you're a registered user of one of the Tolkien forums, we'd like you to first join their respective lists in order to keep them complete. We compare them regularly anyway. In any other case, please send us an email to ringcon@tolkienist.de with your registration number, nickname, and if you want, your e-mail address, pic and age. You can also subscribe to our occasional newsletter. Login-data will be provided in return. * 2. Which Tolkien forums do have their own attendees list? Following forums keep their own list: Herr-der-Ringe-Film: http://forum.herr-der-ringe-film.de (abbr. HDRF) Elbenwald: http://www.elbenwaldforum.de (abbr. EW) Tolkien-Board: http://www.tolkien-board.de (abbr. TBD) Tolkienforum: http://www.tolkienforum.de (abbr. TF) Tolkienist: http://tolkienist.de/forum/index.php (abbr. TOLK) Elronds Rat: http://www.travar.de/koops/elrond/ (abbr. ER) * 3. What information is registered? A complete profile looks like this: |

registration number: this is the official number you got with your ticket. nickname (main forum): your user name in the forum you frequent the most. Please watch the spelling, i.e. if you're registered as *Tom_Bombadil*, don't simply write Tom Bombadil. m/f: gender age: your age at this year's RingCon. Since we don't update this table cell's content, it won't become outdated. e-mail address: your current email-address. Please do inform us if it changes since we use it to send you the login-data. main forum: the forum you frequent most pic: there'll be only an entry in this cell if you send us a pic…and we really beg for it ;-) * 4. What about the security of my personal data? We'd like to protect the content as well as possible. That's why this list is password-protected and you don't have the possibility to give your real name, postal address, telephone number, date of birth or personal interests. We do not pass informations to third parties. To keep the risk to a minimum, we suggest to use a mail account that doesn't refer to your real name. We don't tolerate spam and/or third parties' advertisement messages, so if we get complaints, we'll proceed against the author. * 5. What about the gallery? In addition to the list, we are working on a gallery. We don't know yet if we will host the pics or just link to other websites, so if you want to share the pics you made at Ring*Con 2002, please email us first. Don't send us the pics right away, our mailbox has a limited capacity ;-) * 6. Technical guidelines for personal pics
7. Subscribing to the newsletter You'll find the subscription form on the top of the list pages. Please understand that the newsletter is only available to Ring*Con attendees since we'll use it to inform you of possible changes of passwords etc. * 8. Abbreviations on the RingCon-Team page
9. Login problems Some people don't get the login splash screen but are immediately redirected to the "Authorization requested" page. Until now, it seems that only IE users are affected. Please take a look at your browser's security settings: Tools > Internet Options > Security > User Authentication Use whatever setting you want except "log in as anonymous". |
